About me
I am in my final year of undergraduate education at the University of Florida, within the College of Education’s Unified Elementary Education ProTeach Program. This program, including the mandatory fifth year, provides students with both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Upon graduation with my Master’s in Education, the University will recommend me for certification within the state of Florida, granted I pass my certification exams.
Within the program, we are arranged by semester into cohorts. These cohorts are groups of between 18 and 25 students who progress through the prearranged schedule of courses together. Accompanying those courses are mandatory practicum hours in the local public school system of Alachua County. These practicum hours are targeted in early semesters toward one subject in particular, and later become a more comprehensive and inclusive experience with all subjects. This provides students like myself with the experience necessary to confidently lead a classroom.
